Mr. Hemingway serves as Chairman of the Group he founded in 1983. His career began as a litigation lawyer and senior counsel with major Los Angeles law firms. His law experience was in advising corporate clients, pursuing major class action lawsuits, antitrust actions and engaging in transactional law.
In 1983 he founded the Hemingway Group as an American investment company. Its primary focus was on real estate and restaurants within the Western United States. The Group’s success in the United States was followed by his decision to expand to Europe. In 1990 he founded Hemingway Holding AG, an Austrian public company, as the Group’s European investment vehicle. In 1991, he founded and funded the Hemingway Foundation to serve as a positive force wherever Hemingway Group companies operate and invest.
Since 2000 he has been a Visiting Professor at Budapest Corvinus University, lecturing in entrepreneur-ship and trade regulation. He received his B.F.A. from New York University and Juris Doctorate from the New York University School of Law. Mr. Hemingway splits his time between Europe and the United States. He speaks English, German, Hungarian and is presently working on his Spanish.
